ReplyDeleteDear Haley,
ReplyDeleteA good friend of mine at the University of Oregon recently recommended we reach out to your blog! After reading some of the articles, I can't help but say, I am very impressed. My name is Ativ Patel and I am a co-founder of a hot Silicon Valley start-up that in currently in beta. The three original founding partners (Wharton, UPenn & Ross, UMich) and myself (University of Oregon) recently dropped out of school to pursue this business full-time. We now have offices in Palo Alto & New York City.
Some quick background on the company: Blend is a "college-exclusive" mobile app connecting students to brands they will love. At Blend, we believe that the current means of advertising are "out of date" for the tech-savvy college demographic and that Blend is the most innovative method to get college-focused brands in front of students in a unique way. Putting it simply, students share their experiences and use 'social currency' in order to get free stuff. Here is our angellist profile if you would like to gather more information, however, please note that our UIs are incredibly out-dated (https://angel.co/blend-1). Our momentum is incredibly high as we:
-Just completed a $1.3M Seed Round at an $8M valuation backed by NEA (globally richest firm), BBDO, and Cristian Burci
-Negotiated a $22M white-labeling deal with McDonald's (term sheet pending signature in Nov.)
-Were accepted into the Tandem Accelerator Incubator (received offer from TechStars Chicago & Digital Catalyst Fund as well)
-Partnered with Sperry Top-Sider (Wolverine Worldwide), Southern Tide, Country Club Prep, Amrita Singh Jewelry, Great Lakes Collection, Buffalo Jackson Trading Company, Cotton Snaps, Release Sunglasses, Bill's Khakis, Rowdy Gentlemen, and more
-Launching on a large scale to 5,000+ universities domestically and internationally with finalized V2
-Accumulated 10k Daily Active Users, 100k Photos Shared, 150k Snaps in less than 9 weeks live of Beta (during test launch at University of Michigan & University of Oregon)
-Given away 25k to college students around the nation in 3 weeks
We'd love it if you'd download the app and let us know what you think. Please let me know of any feedback positive or negative; look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Best,
Ativ

Hayley,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog when I was doing some research on popular sorority items. I'm trying to create a line of handmade items for sororities but I'm looking for some feedback from active members. I've been out of school 13 years and I'm sure what sorority swag was popular for us back then is different now. What types of items besides t-shirts do you ladies buy? Wristlets, tote bags, something to put on your wall or maybe even a blanket to watch tv with? Any feedback you can give me would be great.
Thanks,
Alissa
Hi Hayley, my name is Samantha and I am a recent college grad (and new sorority alumna) who started her own sorority jewelry company. I'd love to talk to you to see if you'd like to do a sponsored post on some of my items. Please email me at samantha@letteredco.com so we can talk about working together. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
Samantha
